This highly topical programme is offered in an evening concert format (50’ and 45’ with interval) with chant and polyphony in honour of St Edmund, king and martyr and from the chapel of other English Kings associated with Bury St Edmunds. We will showcase music written in and for the town’s abbey, as well as polyphony by the great figures of the day – Power, Dunstaple, and even King Henry V – that was surely familiar in fifteenth-century Bury. In sum, the concert will open a window onto the musical glories of one of the most important ecumenical and political centres of Medieval England.
